About the Role
Connex Education Partnership is looking for Primary SEND Teachers to work across specialist SEND schools and provisions across North Somerset.
This is a great opportunity for a teacher who enjoys small-group teaching, personalised learning and seeing pupils make progress at their own pace.
As a supply teacher, you may work across different specialist settings, adapting lessons and approaches to meet individual learning profiles while helping pupils develop confidence, communication and independence.
The Pupils
You may teach children with a range of learning, communication, sensory, physical and emotional needs.
Depending on the setting, this could include pupils with:
Autism / ASC | SLD | PMLD | Complex learning needs | Communication difficulties | Sensory needs | SEMH | ADHD | Physical or medical needs
Some pupils may require a highly structured approach, while others may benefit from sensory activities, practical learning or additional communication support.
Every pupil is different, and Connex will work with you to identify placements that suit your experience and preferred teaching environment.
Your Role
- Plan and deliver engaging primary lessons
- Adapt teaching to individual needs and abilities
- Use a range of practical, sensory and communication-based approaches
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Support pupils’ academic, social and personal development
- Establish clear routines and expectations
- Monitor progress and adapt learning accordingly
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist staff
- Follow individual education, support and care plans
- Encourage communication, confidence and independence
What We’re Looking For
- QTS is essential
- Primary teaching experience
- Experience working with SEND is desirable
- A good understanding of differentiated and personalised learning
- Ability to adapt teaching for pupils with complex needs
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- A flexible and creative approach to teaching
- Commitment to supporting every pupil to achieve their potential
Experience in specialist schools, resource bases, alternative provision or SEND-focused settings would be advantageous.
