Connex Education Partnership is looking for caring, adaptable and committed Inclusion Support Assistants to work across specialist schools and SEND settings in Chippenham and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Behaviour Support Workers, Care Professionals and other experienced support staff who are passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning.
We offer flexible day-to-day supply, short- and long-term placements and temp-to-perm opportunities, allowing you to find a role that works around your experience, availability and career goals.
The Role
As an Inclusion Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to help pupils access learning, participate in school life and develop their confidence and independence.
- You may support children and young people with a range of needs, including:
- ASC / Autism
- SEMH and emotional regulation difficulties
- SLD / PMLD
- Complex and multiple needs
- Communication and interaction difficulties
- Sensory needs
- Physical and medical needs
- Challenging or distressed behaviour
- Social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
- Learning and developmental needs
Your responsibilities may include
- Providing 1:1, small-group and classroom-based support
- Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and engagement
- Supporting pupils to access an individualised curriculum
- Encouraging communication, confidence and independence
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Helping pupils manage transitions, routines and changes
- Using agreed strategies to prevent and de-escalate challenging situations
- Supporting social interaction and relationship building
- Assisting with sensory, therapeutic and practical activities
- Supporting personal care or physical needs where required
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and specialist professionals
- Following individual education, behaviour, care and support plans
- Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
Who Are We Looking For?
We would particularly like to hear from candidates with experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, including those with backgrounds in:
- Specialist schools or SEND settings
- Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant roles
- Inclusion or behaviour support
- ASC / Autism
- SEMH
- Sensory support
- Youth work
- Alternative provision
- Therapeutic or intervention settings
Team-Teach or other positive behaviour management training is highly welcomed.
Specialist school experience is desirable, although we are also keen to hear from candidates with relevant transferable experience who are looking to develop their career within SEND education.
