Connex Education are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a Secondary Academy school located in Bury, Greater Manchester.

About the School

This School is an educational provision for pupils aged 11-16 years. All pupils have an Education Health & Care Plan and have been excluded from mainstream school. The school has a bespoke timetable of social and emotional development, mental health well-being and academic progression. They create a calm and engaging environment where pupils progress, inspiring every young person to fulfil their true potential by creating learning environments that are innovative, motivational and impactful on pupils' lives.

Assignment details

  • Full time with a view for a long-term placement from September
  • Monday-Friday, 5 days a week

Person specification

  • Experience of supporting children and young people struggling to manage their emotions, behaviour, and relationships, which can impact their learning and overall well-being.
  • Be able to get to know pupils and understand their needs.
  • Experience working with SEND such as Autism and ADHD.
  • Excellent communication skills, empathetic and patient, being self-regulated and calm, with a positive supportive attitude.
  • Knowledge of SEMH.
  • Understanding of SEMH issues, strategies, and interventions.
  • Be able to interact well with pupils and staff and work well as a team.
  • Able to provide a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
