About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of supportive primary schools throughout Somerset - Taunton, Bridgwater, Highbridge. This advert is ideal for people who enjoy variety, want to build experience across different school settings, and are passionate about helping children with additional needs access learning in a positive, inclusive environment. Roles may include day-to-day supply, regular part-time work or longer-term placements, giving you the flexibility to find opportunities that suit your experience, availability and career goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide targeted support for pupils with a range of additional learning needs
- Assist with 1:1 support, small-group activities and classroom-based learning
- Help pupils develop independence, confidence and positive learning habits
- Support communication, emotional regulation and social development where required
- Follow guidance from teachers, SENDCos and wider school teams
- Contribute to a calm, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Requirements
- Previous SEND, care, youth work or classroom experience is helpful but not essential
- A patient, encouraging and resilient approach
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team
- Genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
- Understanding of safeguarding or willingness to complete relevant training
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
