Salary: £150 to £300 per day based on role and pay scale.

Connex Education is working in partnership with schools across the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT) to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated SEMH Primary Teacher for a part-time opportunity in Taunton, starting in September 2026 and continuing until July 2027. This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who can deliver engaging, adaptive primary learning while supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. The successful candidate will take responsibility for planning, marking, assessment and classroom delivery for 2 days per week, creating a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment.

The Role

  • A primary teaching role from September 2026 until July 2027
  • 2 days per week on a part-time basis
  • Full teaching responsibility, including planning, preparation, marking and assessment
  • Delivering a broad, balanced and differentiated primary curriculum tailored to pupils’ individual needs and readiness to learn
  • Using relational, trauma-informed and positive behaviour approaches to support emotional regulation, engagement and progress
  • Working closely with teaching assistants, the SENDCo, families and external professionals to deliver consistent, personalised support

What We’re Looking For

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Experience teaching in a primary setting and supporting pupils with SEMH and/or SEN
  • A secure understanding of how trauma, attachment and additional needs can affect learning and behaviour
  • Confidence adapting lessons and using personalised plans, including EHCP outcomes where applicable
  • Strong behaviour-management, de-escalation, communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, resilient, flexible and professional approach, with a clear commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
