About The Role

Connex Education are recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a successful and well-established secondary school in Bourne. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-performing academic environment where pupils are motivated, respectful and eager to learn. As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subject areas, ensuring learning continues in the absence of the class teacher. You will create a calm and purposeful classroom environment, encourage pupils to remain focused on their learning, manage behaviour in line with the school's high expectations and provide clear feedback to teaching staff following each lesson. The successful candidate will be organised, adaptable and confident leading classes of students aged 11–18. You will be able to build positive relationships with both pupils and staff, demonstrate excellent communication skills and be committed to maintaining the high standards expected throughout the school. This role would suit graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced Cover Supervisors or individuals with experience working with young people in an educational setting.

Person Specification

  • Degree OR GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above in both, or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with pupils and staff.
  • The ability to build positive and respectful relationships with pupils.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting pupil progress and school life.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills to support learning and classroom administration.
  • The ability to maintain a calm, purposeful and positive learning environment.
  • An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries within a school setting.
  • Adaptability and resilience when working across different subjects and year groups.
  • High standards of professional behaviour, presentation and integrity.
  • A willingness to engage in professional development and respond positively to feedback.
  • Completion of the Connex Education / Academize Effective Cover Supervision training course (access will be provided to all suitable applicants).
  • A full enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Completion of the Connex Education onboarding process.
