Location: Birmingham (Students located in various areas, including: Sutton Coldfield, Harborne, Rednal, Northfield, Great Barr, Old Oscott, Handsworth & surrounding areas)

Pay: £20.00–£25.00 per hour depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Tutor to provide 1:1 home tuition for children and young people with SEN/SEND needs across Birmingham. You will be based in an area of your choosing; however, travel capabilities are ideal. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting pupils outside of mainstream education and can deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to each learner’s individual needs. Flexible working is available, with both part-time and full-time opportunities depending on candidate availability.

The role:

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition in the pupil’s home or agreed setting
  • Plan and adapt lessons to suit individual learning needs and EHCP targets
  • Support pupils with a range of SEN/SEND needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs
  • Build positive and consistent relationships with pupils and families
  • Complete planning and session feedback

Each pupil allocation roughly includes:

  • 8 hours tutoring per week
  • 2 hours paid PPA/planning time
  • Total: 10 paid hours per pupil (as a minimum)

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND
  • Experience creating and teaching lessons in a classroom OR in a tutoring role
  • Ability to differentiate and adapt learning approaches
  • Confident managing behaviour and engagement in a 1:1 setting
  • Reliable, professional and empathetic approach

Desirable:

  • QTS (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience with:
    • Makaton
    • PECS
    • SALT strategies
    • Autism support
    • SEMH needs
    • Alternative provision
