About Us: Connex Education Partnership is a dedicated and specialised provider of educational support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with autism, complex learning needs, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Our mission is to provide meaningful, tailored, and supportive one-to-one tuition to children currently not attending school.

The Role: The role of a SEN Specialist Tutor will be varied depending on the specific needs of each student; however, you will predominantly work with children who are currently not attending school, providing personalised, one-to-one tuition mainly in their homes, but sometimes at local learning centres. These students with EHCPs require additional support due to autism, complex learning needs, or SEMH challenges. You will need to adapt your teaching style and methods to the individual you are tutoring, enabling them to receive the right support in a comfortable environment. The goal is to prepare the student for a school learning environment and help build their self-esteem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one tutoring for children with a range of SEN, including autism, SEMH, and other complex learning needs.
  • Create and deliver personalised lessons based on each child’s EHCP, ensuring their individual needs and learning styles are met.
  • Help children engage with the curriculum, build essential skills, and make progress academically and personally.
  • Work closely with parents and carers to track the child’s development and provide updates.
  • Collaborate with schools, local authorities, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s progress.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and motivating learning environment that helps children gain confidence in their abilities.

Some Key Benefits of the Role:

  • Flexible working: Manage your own diary, which works well for those balancing family life or other commitments.
  • Financial Security: Minimum 10 hours pay per week for each child, including 2 hours paid prep time.
  • Freedom to teach your way: Lessons are tailored to each child’s unique needs and EHCP.
  • Make a real difference: Work with children at a critical time in their education.
  • Good rates of pay: Competitive pay rates with potential for additional referrals.
  • Professional collaboration: Work closely with schools and other professionals for the best outcomes.
  • Ongoing support: Access to our specialist SEN Home Tuition Team for advice and support.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly autism, SEMH, and complex learning needs.
  • Fluent in any one of the following languages (plus English): Romanian, Czech, Polish.
  • Experience with PECS and/or Makaton is highly desirable.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications preferred, but not essential if you have relevant experience in SEN support.
  • Genuine passion for helping children overcome learning barriers.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to teaching.
  • Ability to travel within the specified area (driving preferred but not required).
