Location: Haringey, North London | Pay: £85 per day | Contract: Full-time, long-term

Connex Education is working with a specialist school in Haringey, North London, to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant for a long-term position starting as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with complex health needs in a caring, well-staffed specialist setting where full support and training are provided.

About the Role / Setting

The school supports children and young people with complex health conditions, including pupils who are unable to attend school for medical reasons. You will work closely with the classroom team to provide calm, consistent and practical support tailored to each pupil’s needs.

Support may take place in school and, where required, through visits to pupils at home to help them continue their learning and catch up. The role will suit someone patient, resilient and compassionate, with a genuine interest in specialist education.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with learning activities across the curriculum under the guidance of teaching staff.
• Assist with sensory learning, communication activities and practical life skills.
• Provide mobility support and personal care where required.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and SEND professionals.
• Help pupils access learning at home where home-based support is required.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
• Maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for pupils.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience supporting children or young people, ideally within SEND, care, education or a similar setting.
• A patient, reliable and resilient approach to supporting pupils with complex needs.
• Confidence working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to support sensory learning, communication, mobility and personal care where needed.
• Fluent in English with clear communication skills.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one through the required process.
