About the Role
Connex Education is currently recruiting Supply Teachers to support primary schools across Swadlincote, Newhall, Woodville, Midway and the wider DE11 area.
With October half term approaching, local schools are continuing to seek qualified, reliable teachers to provide classroom cover and support pupils’ learning throughout the autumn term.
We have opportunities for immediate day-to-day supply teaching, alongside short-term assignments and longer-term placements starting after half term.
Whether you’re an experienced teacher looking for a better work-life balance, returning to the classroom or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) hoping to broaden your experience, we’d love to hear from you.
Opportunities are available across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, with assignments suited to your availability, experience and preferred year groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons in line with school planning and curriculum expectations.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive and productive classroom environment.
- Maintain positive behaviour and effective classroom management.
- Adapt confidently to different schools, year groups and teaching routines.
- Ensure pupils remain engaged and make progress in their learning.
- Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, senior leaders and other school staff.
Assignment Details
- Immediate starts available for day-to-day supply teaching.
- Short-term and longer-term placements available following October half term.
- Flexible full-time and part-time working opportunities.
- Work across Swadlincote, Newhall, Woodville, Midway and surrounding DE11 schools.
- Teaching assignments across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Person Specification
We’re looking for teachers who have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Recent experience teaching in a UK primary school or completing a UK teacher training placement.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Confidence teaching across different primary year groups and adapting to new school environments.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A positive, professional and dependable approach to teaching.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils’ wellbeing.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.

All roles are subject to satisfactory background checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
