Start Date: 26th October 2026
Location: East Bristol
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–4:00pm | Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm
Contract: Potential permanent opportunity for the right candidate!

About the Role

Connex Education is seeking a hands-on, proactive and reliable Site Manager to support the day-to-day running and maintenance of a primary school. This is a varied role for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and well-presented school environment and can confidently manage a range of site-related responsibilities.

The position will start on 26th October and initially run until the Christmas break, with the potential to become a long-term or permanent opportunity for the right person. You will also have the benifit of a 3 day handover with the current Site Manager!

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out regular site maintenance checks to ensure the school premises remain safe and well maintained.
  • Completing ad hoc cleaning and general grounds maintenance as required.
  • Working closely with the Site Operations Manager to complete specific maintenance and operational duties.
  • Meeting and liaising with contractors attending the school.
  • Updating Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks on the ‘IamCompliant’ system.
  • Raising requisitions and completing relevant administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining a good general understanding of health and safety requirements within a school environment.
  • Helping to ensure the school site remains safe, secure and suitable for pupils, staff and visitors.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a proactive, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently. You will be personable, approachable and confident communicating with people at all levels, with a good sense of humour and a willingness to get stuck in.

Previous experience in site management, premises maintenance, facilities management, caretaker or a similar role is required. A general understanding of health and safety procedures, particularly within a school or similar environment, would also be advantageous.

We are looking for someone who is organised, practical and reliable, with the initiative to identify tasks that need completing and ensure the school site is maintained to a high standard.

Safeguarding and Compliance

As this role is based within a primary school, the successful candidate must be willing to complete the relevant pre-employment and safeguarding checks, including an appropriate DBS check, in line with the school’s safer recruitment requirements.
