About the Role / Setting
You will be joining a supportive primary school team and working within a Year 4 class. The role will involve general classroom support alongside targeted small group interventions for pupils working at differing learning levels.
Experience supporting KS2 pupils is essential, and experience delivering focused interventions is desirable. This role may also suit an ECT looking to gain further school-based experience in a stable and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher with day-to-day teaching and learning in a Year 4 classroom.
- Deliver small group interventions to help pupils build confidence and make progress.
- Provide targeted support for pupils.
- Adapt support to meet varying learning needs and promote inclusion.
- Encourage positive behaviour, consistency and engagement across the school day.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and follow classroom routines effectively.
- Observe and report any changes in pupil behaviour, wellbeing or learning needs.
What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting KS2 pupils is essential.
- Experience delivering learning interventions, ideally including SATs support.
- Level 2 or Level 3 teaching assistant or childcare qualification is desirable.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent Level 2 qualifications.
- Strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
- Patient, empathetic and professional approach, with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries in a school setting.
- Current DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for a new enhanced DBS through Connex Education.
- Proof of right to work in the UK.
