Connex Education is recruiting Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Chaddesden, Oakwood, Spondonand the wider DE21 area.
With the October half term approaching, we are looking for reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants who are available to work from November onwards, supporting local primary schools throughout the remainder of the autumn term and beyond.
Whether you are looking for five days a week, a few regular days, or flexible supply work around other commitments, we would like to hear from you.
Opportunities are available across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, including day-to-day cover, short-term assignments and longer-term placements.
The Role
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and school staff to help pupils get the most from their school day.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups.
- Assisting teachers with classroom activities and lesson delivery.
- Helping pupils remain engaged and focused on their learning.
- Supporting positive behaviour within the classroom.
- Working with pupils who may require additional learning or behavioural support.
- Helping create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.

What We’re Looking For
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who have:
- Recent experience working with children in a UK primary school or similar educational setting.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above.
- Confidence supporting pupils individually and in small groups.
- Good communication skills and a patient, professional approach.
- A reliable and flexible attitude.
- The ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms and school environments.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
You must have the right to work in the UK to apply.
All roles are subject to satisfactory background and safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
