Connex Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a welcoming SEN school in Knowle, Birmingham. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with SEMH.
The Role:
- You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with autism.
- Working within a supportive and experienced team, you will create a structured and nurturing environment that promotes learning, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative, personalised lessons in line with EHCP targets.
- Support pupils with a range of communication and sensory needs.
- Implement behaviour management strategies effectively and consistently.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Foster a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent/experience.
- Experience working with children with autism and additional needs.
- A patient, empathetic and flexible approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of strategies such as PECS, Makaton or TEACCH (desirable).
