The RoleOur Home Tuition team is looking for a passionate and resilient SEN Tutor with a genuine commitment to supporting young people who face barriers to education. You will provide personalised, one-to-one tuition and mentoring support to pupils in the Birmingham area who are currently unable to access mainstream education.
The pupils you will support have SEN and may have experienced school avoidance, anxiety, behavioural challenges, trauma, or disrupted educational journeys. This role requires flexibility, creativity, and the ability to build positive relationships that encourage engagement and progress.
This role ideally requires Monday to Friday availability, though a minimum of three days a week is a necessity, with sessions typically lasting 2 hours per day. This is a minimum commitment, and additional hours are available for those seeking increased work.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver one-to-one tuition and mentoring support for pupils with SEN needs.
Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes tailored to individual learning goals and outcomes.
Adapt teaching strategies to engage learners who may be reluctant, anxious, or disengaged from education.
Support pupils to develop confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, and positive learning behaviours.
Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage consistent engagement and progress.
Work closely with parents, carers, schools, local authorities, and other professionals to support each learner's development.
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback and session reports.
Create a safe, supportive, and motivating learning environment that promotes positive outcomes.
Experience working with children or young people with SEN needs.
Experience as a Teacher or SEN Tutor
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
A genuine passion for supporting young people who require alternative provision.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals.
A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach.
The ability to motivate and engage learners with diverse needs and backgrounds.
Access to transport and willingness to travel within the local area is desirable.
