Connex Education is seeking a dedicated full-time SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialised Stockton pupil referral unit, starting September 2025. This vital role focuses on supporting students with profound learning difficulties and complex special educational needs. Working with students who have profound learning difficulties requires exceptional patience, empathy, and specialised skills. You will be supporting young people who may have severe cognitive impairments, multiple disabilities, or complex medical needs that significantly impact their learning and daily functioning.

About the School/Organisation: The school offers a specialist environment with individualised learning plans, therapeutic interventions, and an experienced, supportive team.

Assignment Details: This two day role (Monday/ Friday) provides an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in at-risk learners' lives within a dedicated SEN setting. The full day is 8:30am-3:30pm. Candidates must be based in Teesside or surrounding areas. Apply if you're passionate about inclusive education and supporting vulnerable young people. You will be on a 1:1 basis with your allocated pupil, within a class of up to 5 and a teacher.

As a successful SEND Teaching Assistant with Connex Education Partnership, you will possess:

  • Hold a relevant Qualification in SEND or Teaching Assistant - level 2 or level 3
  • Have experience working with individuals with SEN
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Confident in your behaviour management skills
  • Calm, resilient and able to communicate well with young people
  • Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to apply for a new one through Connex
  • Team Teach trained - preferred
  • Be able to show proof of work in the UK
