As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting children with a variety of additional needs, ensuring they can access learning and reach their full potential. You will provide both one-to-one and small group support, tailoring your approach to meet the individual needs of each pupil. This may involve adapting resources, breaking down tasks, and offering encouragement to build confidence. Working closely with teachers and the SENCO, you will help implement support plans and promote positive behaviour. A big part of the role will also be encouraging independence and developing social skills, helping pupils to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Role Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting is essential
  • Level 2/3 in Childcare
  • A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
  • Strong communication skills, both with pupils and staff
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children (an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one through Connex Education, is required)
