We are looking for a Contract Platform Database Administrator to join our Group Data Platform team to support a critical migration project on a 6-month contract. In this role, you will support the maturity of our CRM and data platform as we analyse and migrate existing on-prem and legacy Azure stored procedures and SSRS to modern and interoperable Fabric Data Platform capabilities. Partnering with Data Architecture and Engineers, you will enable the development of timely and holistic reporting through the deprecation of heritage processes. This role will be an extended part of the existing DBA team and partner with Data Platform Engineering to deliver the project outcomes.
We offer a hybrid working arrangement with one day per week in our Milton Keynes office.
Key Responsibilities:- Managing and documenting the Connells Group Database Environment for heritage legacy application and reporting services.
- Providing the DBA team with Production level SQL support.
- Working with project Data Engineers, Data Business Analyst, and Fabric Platform Lead to discover and migrate heritage application database and procedures.
- Liaising with third parties to solve problems with bespoke systems.
- Performing regular capacity management tasks and security auditing.
- Maintaining data security within the relevant Database.
- Documenting and implementing all SQL configuration migration and changes.
- Implementing development applications change.
- Enforcing group security controls and best practices.
- Working closely with IT Development teams on troubleshooting Production systems.
- Supporting project delivery plan with technical expertise to deliver timely and comprehensive migration.
- Input to Fabric platform development plan across the medallion architecture to derive certified reporting output for Estate Agency CRM.
- Supporting development, testing, parallel running, and demise of heritage reporting suite and procedures.
- Excellent DBA skills with at least 3-5 years experience.
- Advanced T-SQL skills.
- Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft SQL Server stack (SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS).
- Exposure to automation deployment tools such as Azure DevOps, OctopusDeploy.
- Cloud services: Azure SaaS, PaaS, IaaS.
- Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery).
- Good working knowledge of Windows Server Administration and specifically IS Administration.
- Ability to read and understand Programming languages: VB.NET & C# .NET.
- Applications Administration skills.
- Experience with virtualization software: Hyper-V.
- Degree-level qualification in computer-related discipline and/or professional qualification(s) (Microsoft).
- Strong working knowledge of PowerShell.
