We are seeking an experienced UX Designer to join our Group Technology team in Milton Keynes on a 6-month contract. As a UX Design contractor, you will own the end-to-end design process from discovery through to design delivery in shaping our new contact centre platform. Working alongside a delivery manager, business analysts and development teams, you'll utilise design framework to deliver solutions based around product and user led iterative design. You'll leverage your expertise to balance business goals and technical constraints but most importantly, champion the user and their needs. A big part of this role will be to recommend, customise and document an internal design system (based on existing libraries) in collaboration with our other UX designers.
Key Responsibilities
- User Research & Insights: Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research and usability testing to understand user needs, pain points, and behaviours β presenting findings into problem statements that inform design hypothesis leading to a design brief.
- Interaction Design: Design user interfaces that are visually appealing and enhance user engagement, employing wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts.
- Accessibility: Understanding of inclusive design principles and proven implementation of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards to at least AA level.
- User Journey Mapping: Create holistic service flows, user journey maps, and personas to identify critical touchpoints, emotions and risks β ensuring a seamless experience for users.
- Design Systems: Contribute to the creation, maintenance and documentation of a back-office design system, promoting consistency across all digital products and experiences.
- Feedback Integration: Gather feedback from users and stakeholders, iterating designs based on insights and testing to continuously improve the user experience.
- Trend Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in UX design, ensuring that our offerings are competitive and meet user expectations.
Preferably with a Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a UX designer.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma and Miro or similar.
- Strong portfolio showcasing case studies of your UX design process, thinking and outcomes; include examples of user research, wireframes, and final designs.
- Proven experience building products from 0 to 1 and proving market-fit rapidly.
- Strong understanding of agile principles and tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence).
- User champion mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality solutions.
- Excellent understanding of core design principles and user-centred methodologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to explain, justify and defend design decisions clearly and confidently to non-design stakeholders.
- Ability to solve problems creatively, with exceptional attention to pixel-perfect detail and handover practices, ensuring design intent is maintained throughout build.
- Proven ability to work to tight timelines and able to take ownership without constant direction.
- Experience and/or interest in estate agency or financial services is a plus.
