We are recruiting for a Credit Controller to join our Finance team in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will be confident in communicating effectively verbally or in writing, be tenacious and flexible with the drive to provide great service and deliver change in an exciting and challenging environment. You should be prepared to engage with and influence stakeholders and have a strong attention to detail.
Your key responsibilities:
- Maximise cash collections, to individually collect monthly cash targets
- To actively contribute in reducing aged debt over 30 days
- Manage apportioned accounts to reduce the risk of bad debts
- Prepare Daily reports as per Credit Control procedures
- To correctly help identify unallocated cash receipts from the bank statements
- Keep ledgers tidy with a view to reducing the number of accounts, making sure housekeeping of write-offs / matching / unallocated cash are actioned regularly
- Raise ad-hoc invoices/credits as required
- To identify and escalate potential bad debts at an early stage to the Credit Control Supervisor
- Ensure telephone and email collection targets are met
- Provide explanations for old unpaid items and unallocated cash balances to the Credit Control Supervisor
- Promote the department by maintaining relationships with customers, internal and external partners in a positive and professional manner at all times
- Follow up on remittances when required
- Confirm bank details with solicitors when required
- Participate in regular ledger reviews with the Control Supervisor
- Help to evaluate and contribute to the regular reviews for Credit Control policies and procedures
Ideal candidate:
- Some Credit control experience
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with an attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, in particular the ability to communicate complex financial information in plain English
- Experience of Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and work under own initiative and be a team player
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging communications
