The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.

We are seeking a trainee tax accountant to join our dynamic and friendly team in Chelmsford. This is an ideal role for a graduate or someone with prior accounting experience looking to develop their career within a large organization offering excellent opportunities for development.

The main purpose of this role is to provide support to the Connells tax team across all our tax compliance obligations which includes Corporate tax, Payroll Tax and VAT and to work closely with the Skipton tax team.

If desired, we will support the successful candidate in training in the role and completing their studies through a funded apprenticeship with a leading training provider for the Chartered tax advisor qualification.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with Completion of Corporate tax returns and Ixbrl tagged accounts and computations
  • Preparing tax provisions for both Corporate and deferred tax using One Source tax software
  • Liaising directly with Finance leaders on ad hoc queries
  • Liaising directly with HMRC
  • Attending meetings with the wider tax team
  • Assisting the Group Tax Manager with the detailed supporting information for the tax deliverables
  • Assisting with the checking and controls over the Group VAT returns
  • General tax administrative roles

The ideal candidate will have:

  • GCSE Maths and English Language, Level 5 or equivalent
  • At least an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification, such as an AAT advanced diploma or you may be a recent graduate
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex matters in accessible terms
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Some knowledge of group accounting and tax consolidations
  • Computer and online literacy, including confidence using accounting software and the HMRC online portal
