General Summary: The Director of Software Engineering is responsible for leading a team of entry level to experienced professionals focused on software development to deliver the business unit's product according to required specifications. This role supports cross-functional teams to innovate the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for proper estimations, outputs, and architecting scalable solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results.
  • Typically manages a department or small unit that includes multiple teams - Total ticketing, PSA Foundation.
  • Experience and knowledge of AI based (Agentic) development, vision of outcome we can get from the AI development.
  • Drive adoption of AI in engineering workflows and product capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity using automation and AI.
  • Lead modernization initiatives, including API-first and platform-led architecture.
  • Define and execute engineering strategy aligned with business goals and platform vision.
  • Drive decisions that balance short-term delivery with long-term platform modernization.
  • Partner with Product to translate business priorities into executable engineering plans.
  • Leads and prioritizes the daily activities of the team.
  • Manages, mentors, and coaches to develop a collaborative and dynamic team.
  • Own delivery across multiple teams with clear accountability on timelines and outcomes.
  • Establish predictable execution through metrics, governance, and operational rigor.
  • Manage dependencies across domains and resolve bottlenecks proactively.
  • Plans and drives high quality deliverables aligned to the organization's strategy.
  • Exhibits a high degree of creativity, latitude, and judgment.
  • Writes product requirement documents, implements and tracks development timelines, and negotiates feature sets.
  • Maintains a deep understanding of programming and coding fundamentals, architecture, and design in multiple languages.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:

  • Exceptional leadership and customer service skills.
  • Ability to address complex problems that often require extensive investigation and analysis.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to give the team direction.
  • Professional presence suitable for interaction in meetings, in-person or via email.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Has a deep understanding of coding fundamentals, architecture and design in multiple languages, and technologies.
  • Knowledge of a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to understand complex algorithms.
  • Advanced understanding of how a Managed Service Provider (MSP) operates from a business standpoint.

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent business experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in related field.
  • 6+ years of managerial experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Remote or Hybrid depending on location to office.
  • 10-20% travel is required (regional and international).
