Our client is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to design and develop innovative mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems. Working closely with internal teams, contractors and consultants, you will play a key role in delivering compliant, high-quality solutions that meet technical, safety and client requirements while supporting projects from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed designs for mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems using CAD and other relevant design software.
- Ensure designs comply with client specifications, regulatory requirements and international fire safety standards, including EN12101.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors and consultants to integrate ventilation systems into wider building designs.
- Review CFD analysis to optimise system performance during fire scenarios.
- Produce technical documentation, specifications, installation guidance and product information.
- Provide technical support throughout the design process and Design Pack creation.
- Research and implement new technologies and materials to improve system performance and efficiency.
Requirements Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience designing smoke ventilation systems or similar building services solutions.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit or SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of ventilation principles.
- Knowledge of relevant building regulations, fire safety codes and ventilation standards including EN12101 and BS9999.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and compliance.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on high-rise residential developments, new-build projects or communal building systems.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) workflows.
