Fire Door Assessor required for our long established compliance, consultancy and investment management company based on the outskirts of Manchester, providing a range of compliance solutions relating to the maintenance of building safety.
About the Role
The Fire Door Assessor will be responsible for inspecting, testing and reporting on the condition, compliance, and performance of both demised and communal fire doors across a large residential portfolio to ensure the safety of occupants and adherence to associated fire safety legislation and standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct regular inspections of fire doors to assess their condition, functionality, and compliance with current fire safety regulations.
- Identify and report any defects, non-compliance, or maintenance issues with fire doors, frames, seals, hardware, and associated components.
- Ensure fire doors close properly, latch correctly, and that intumescent seals and smoke seals are intact and functional.
- Produce detailed inspection reports, including photographic evidence, highlighting compliance issues and recommended corrective actions.
- Collaborate with maintenance and facilities teams to ensure timely repair or replacement of faulty fire doors.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs for auditing and compliance purposes.
- Stay updated on fire safety legislation, standards, and best practices related to fire doors.
- Provide advice and guidance to staff on fire door operation and fire safety awareness where necessary.
Key Requirements
- Certification as a Fire Door Inspector (e.g., BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Inspector, IFSM Level 4 Fire Safety, or equivalent).
- Must hold a valid UK Driving Licence, and have unrestricted use of a personal vehicle.
- Travelling to and from various sites, across the United Kingdom.
- Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and building regulations related to fire doors.
- Experience inspecting, assessing, and reporting on fire doors in residential settings.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects or non-compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Competence in using inspection tools and reporting software.
- Ability to work independently and manage inspection schedules efficiently.
