We are working with a well‑established legal practice seeking a Construction Solicitor to join their growing team. This role will initially focus on contentious construction matters, with the opportunity to gain exposure to non‑contentious work over time.

The successful candidate will work closely with clients to deliver strategic, commercially focused advice, supporting them through complex disputes while also helping to mitigate risk and avoid disputes where possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of contentious construction matters including adjudication, litigation, arbitration, expert determination and mediation.
  • Advise clients on disputes arising under JCT and other construction contracts.
  • Provide strategic and commercially focused advice to achieve cost‑effective and successful outcomes.
  • Identify legal risks and advise on mitigation strategies in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
  • Take a proactive and innovative approach to dispute avoidance and resolution.
  • Support non‑contentious construction matters where required, including:
  • Drafting and negotiating construction contracts.
  • Preparing consultancy appointments.
  • Advising on ancillary documentation such as collateral warranties, deeds of novation, parent company guarantees and performance bonds.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments including real estate, corporate and finance teams to deliver joined‑up client solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through high levels of service and communication.
  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and SLA requirements are met.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records across all ongoing cases.
  • Key Requirements
    • Experience handling contentious construction matters across a range of dispute resolution methods.
    • Strong understanding of JCT and other standard form construction contracts.
    • Commercially minded with the ability to provide practical, solution‑focused advice.
