We are working with a highly regarded property law firm seeking an experienced and proactive Conveyancing Assistant or Legal Secretary to support their busy conveyancing department. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior legal professionals in a supportive, well-structured team environment. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the legal team, assisting with residential conveyancing transactions and providing high-quality administrative support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with all stages of the conveyancing process, including exchanges, completions, and title checks
  • Handling standard residential conveyancing matters under supervision
  • Managing post-completion tasks such as SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications
  • Supporting with lease or transfer variations and redemption of charges
  • Involvement in litigation support, including instructing receivers for charge recovery
  • Liaising with clients, solicitors, lenders, and third parties to progress transactions
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client files and legal documentation
  • Preparing and submitting Stamp Duty Land Tax returns
  • Carrying out general administrative duties to support the smooth operation of the office
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to process improvements

About You

  • Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant, ideally within conveyancing
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Confident using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
