Connecting Education are recruiting an IT Technician on behalf of a highly regarded independent school in Esher - a thriving co-educational community of around 1,300 pupils, set in 100 acres of historic grounds. With excellent road and rail links to London, Guildford, and the wider South East, it's a genuinely attractive place to work.

This is a varied, hands-on role within a close-knit IT team, supporting up to 1,500 users across all areas of the school. Technology is central to how this school operates - from cloud-based learning platforms and a 1:1 managed device scheme to AI-integrated teaching methods - and the IT team is key to keeping it all running. The school is actively investing in its IT provision, so there's real scope to contribute to meaningful change and project work, not just day-to-day support.

The role: Reporting to the Head of IT, you'll provide first and second line helpdesk support across hardware, software, and network systems. Day-to-day you'll be managing tickets through Halo ITSM, troubleshooting Microsoft and Apple devices, supporting staff and pupils of all ages, and acting as a mentor to the school's IT apprentice. You'll also play an active part in larger projects, including the annual provisioning of devices each summer.

What we're looking for:

  • At least two years' experience in IT support, helpdesk, or a similar technical role within an Education setting
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Intune, and Windows Server
  • Experience with Jamf/Apple School Manager is desirable
  • Confident communicator who can explain technical issues clearly to less-technical users
  • Proactive, calm under pressure, and committed to ongoing professional development

The package:

  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Free lunches during term time, free onsite parking, generous pension scheme, life assurance, and access to a confidential employee counselling service
  • A supportive team culture with genuine CPD opportunities

Closing date: 1st July - applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submission is strongly encouraged.

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach
