We are seeking an exceptional Senior Head of School to lead a specialist educational setting in Yorkshire. The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective leadership and day-to-day management of the school
  • Promote a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and student wellbeing
  • Lead on behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, and pastoral support
  • Support and develop staff through coaching, mentoring, and professional development
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and safeguarding responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic development and continuous improvement of the school

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE English, Maths, and Science at Grade 5/C or above (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Evidence of relevant professional development in areas such as leadership, behaviour, safeguarding, inclusion, SEMH, or SEND practice
  • Safeguarding training to DSL or DDSL level, or willingness to undertake this immediately upon appointment
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Experience supporting children and young people with diverse educational and pastoral needs
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Leadership qualifications such as NPQLT, NPQLBC, NPQSL, or NPQH
  • Additional training in trauma-informed practice, mental health, de-escalation, or therapeutic interventions
  • Experience working within specialist education, SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision settings
