About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Greater Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, personalised teaching and learning that enables every pupil to make meaningful progress from their individual starting points. You will play a key role in creating a nurturing, structured, and engaging learning environment where pupils can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across KS1 and KS2.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learning needs, including communication, sensory, SEMH, cognition and learning needs.
  • Develop and implement personalised learning plans, IEPs, and interventions.
  • Contribute to EHCP processes, including evidence gathering, annual reviews, and multi-agency meetings.
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress against personalised targets and EHCP outcomes.
  • Create calm, structured learning environments with consistent routines and visual supports.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, therapists, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and pupil wellbeing.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement and the wider life of the school.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A recognised degree in any subject.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to teaching, SEND, or primary education.

Experience

  • Experience teaching or supporting pupils within KS1 and/or KS2.
  • Proven experience adapting teaching to meet a range of SEND needs.
  • Experience contributing to EHCP processes and multi-agency working.
  • Experience writing and implementing IEPs or personalised learning plans.
  • Experience assessing, tracking, and evidencing progress against individual targets.
  • Experience creating structured and supportive learning environments.

Desirable Qualifications & Training

  • Training in trauma-informed practice, nurture approaches, or behaviour regulation frameworks.
  • Training in SEND-specific approaches, phonics, AAC, or visual communication systems.
  • Specialist training relating to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), SEMH, or complex needs.
