The Role
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play an important role in helping children and young people develop communication skills, confidence, independence, and access to learning. You may support children and young people with:
- Autism Spectrum Condition
- Developmental Language Disorder
- Speech sound difficulties
- Social communication needs
- Selective mutism
- Learning difficulties
- Complex communication needs
- AAC requirements
Responsibilities May Include
- Completing assessments and identifying therapy needs
- Developing and delivering therapy programmes
- Providing individual and group intervention
- Supporting communication strategies within the classroom
- Writing professional reports and contributing to EHCPs
- Working collaboratively with families, teachers, SENCOs, and multidisciplinary teams
