Our client is building out its UK and Europe battery energy storage investment team and is seeking an Investment Associate to support the origination, evaluation, and execution of new opportunities.

The role spans standalone and co-located BESS projects across multiple European markets, with exposure to transactions from initial screening through to closing and transition.

You will work closely with teams across Development, EPC, Finance, Legal, Tax, and Strategy in both Europe and China, supporting investment analysis, due diligence, transaction execution, and preparation of investment recommendations.

Key responsibilities

  • Source and screen BESS investment opportunities through developers, brokers, internal teams, and direct outreach.
  • Research the UK and European storage market, including power pricing, ancillary services, capacity market structures, and policy developments.
  • Prepare investment papers, valuation models, and internal recommendation materials.
  • Coordinate due diligence across technical, legal, financial, tax, ESG, land, permitting, and grid workstreams.
  • Support negotiation and review of transaction documents, including SPA, SHA, and related project agreements.
  • Manage transaction trackers, data rooms, issue logs, timelines, and closing deliverables.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to support execution and post-completion transition.
  • Candidate profile
  • 5-10 years' experience in renewable energy M&A, project finance, transaction advisory, infrastructure investment, or a related field.
  • Experience with BESS, solar, wind, or broader infrastructure transactions is preferred.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills, with advanced Excel capability.
  • Familiarity with SPA processes, due diligence coordination, and project contracts.
  • Strong commercial judgement, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent English; additional European languages are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between China and the UK / Europe.
  • Candidates should be based in the UK or Europe.
