Tyne Amateur Rowing Club is seeking a director acting in a voluntary capacity to bring senior level hospitality experience and insight to support the development of the Café‑Bar & Function space at the clubhouse in Newburn, Newcastle.

Tyne 1852 Limited is a wholly‑owned subsidiary of the registered charity that provides high‑quality hospitality and managed facilities for Tyne Amateur Rowing Club members. The charity’s strategic aim is to encourage the generation of commercial revenue at the club, with a goal of increasing bar sales by 10% and reducing costs by 6% over the next four years. Current turnover is around £300,000 per annum. The bar operations are overseen by a full‑time Club Manager, supported by a full‑time Bar & Catering Manager and a part‑time kitchen supervisor, with several bar and kitchen team members. The club’s thriving membership, public access, and community support have enabled significant capital investment in recent years, including a movable partition wall and a new commercial kitchen.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage senior hospitality expertise to support the development of the Café‑Bar & Function space.
  • Assist in achieving the charity’s strategic aims, such as boosting bar sales by 10% and cutting costs by 6% over the next four years.
  • Collaborate with the Club Manager and Bar & Catering Manager to optimise bar and kitchen operations.
