A well known manufacturing business is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone early in their finance career who is looking to gain exposure to a more commercially focused accounting position, rather than purely transactional finance.
Working closely with the wider business, the successful candidate will support the finance function with cost analysis, financial insight, and month–end accounting activities, helping the business better understand its costs and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting the preparation of cost analysis, including labour and material costings
- Assisting with financial analysis to support commercial decision making
- Working with operational teams to help understand cost drivers and business performance
- Posting journals and assisting with month–end accounting processes
- Managing and maintaining prepayments and accruals
- Supporting financial reporting and maintaining accurate financial records
- Assisting the wider finance team with ad–hoc analysis and reporting
- Previous experience in a finance assistant, accounts assistant, or assistant accountant role
- Understanding of core accounting processes including journals and month–end activities
- Strong Excel skills and good attention to detail
- An interest in developing within a commercially focused finance role
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with teams across the business
- Exposure to costing, margin analysis, or operational finance
- Experience within a manufacturing, production, or product–based environment
- Studying towards AAT or another accounting qualification
