The role

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and ambitious Consultant to join the Enterprise Insight and Investment team. The team helps high‑potential SMEs become investable and scalable by providing targeted commercial advisory, strengthening their market focus, and accelerating their growth. Our goal is to increase the number of investable SMEs, unlock private investment, and validate new propositions that enable sustainable commercial growth. A core part of this role is supporting SMEs within CPC's Innovation Funding programmes—helping refine business models, sharpen go‑to‑market strategies, and strengthen investment readiness.

Key Activities

  • Conduct market and industry analysis to generate high‑quality insights, including market sizing, competitive assessments, trends, and strategic recommendations.
  • Support SMEs and project partners through workshops, 1:1 sessions, and tailored commercial guidance to build capability and drive growth.
  • Develop and refine commercial propositions—value propositions, business models, and exploitation plans that enable successful commercialisation.
  • Lead structured business analysis including requirements gathering, feasibility studies, stakeholder analysis, and documentation to identify opportunities and practical solutions.
  • Contribute to strong client relationships, high‑quality delivery and opportunity development across the Business Unit, while developing your coaching capability.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate brings expertise in market analysis, commercial strategy and business modelling, and is comfortable working across sectors to provide robust evidence for strategic decision‑making. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and research skills generating meaningful commercial insights.
  • Experience supporting SME and organisational growth through workshops, interviews, and capability‑building activities.
  • Proven ability to develop commercial propositions, define requirements, and design viable business models.
  • Advanced analytical and consultative skills, combining data‑driven thinking with clear strategic communication.
