An innovative international healthcare technology business is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join its R&D Software Engineering team. The company develops advanced hardware and software solutions used globally in medical diagnostics. As part of ongoing investment in next-generation software platforms, the business is seeking a hands-on engineer to support the development of cross-platform mobile and web applications using Flutter.

This is a technically varied role focused on mobile applications, hardware interaction and future cloud-based software ecosystems.

The Role

You will play a key role in the development and evolution of the company’s mobile application platforms, working on software that directly interacts with hardware systems and specialist equipment. These applications communicate with, control and acquire data from physical devices operating in real-world technical environments. Working closely with international engineering teams, you will contribute to both existing mobile products and future web and cloud-based software platforms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing cross-platform mobile applications using Flutter
  • Supporting the migration of legacy mobile applications into a modern Flutter architecture
  • Developing applications which communicate directly with hardware systems and specialist devices
  • Contributing to software architecture, scalability and maintainability across mobile and web platforms
  • Working with APIs, communication protocols and integrated systems
  • Supporting CI/CD, automated testing and software engineering best practices
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams including software, electronics and mechanical engineering
  • Participating in technical discussions around future web, cloud and platform development
  • Producing technical documentation and supporting product lifecycle activities

About You

We are looking for an experienced software engineer with strong mobile development expertise using Flutter and a genuine interest in hardware-integrated products and real-world device interaction. You may come from a background such as:

  • Medtech or healthcare technology
  • Connected devices or IoT
  • Industrial or embedded systems
  • Wearable technology
  • Diagnostics or instrumentation
  • Other hardware-integrated software environments

You will be comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and contributing technical ideas, engineering standards and development best practices within a collaborative international R&D environment.

Essential experience:

  • Strong commercial experience with Flutter
  • Cross-platform mobile application development
  • Experience developing applications that interact with physical hardware or integrated devices
  • Experience with APIs, Bluetooth, WiFi, USB or similar communication methods
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, CI/CD and maintainable architecture
  • Ability to work autonomously within a small, highly collaborative engineering team
