The role is a permanent part-time position based in Wandsworth, London, requiring 1.5 days per year, equivalent to 32 meetings predominantly in the evenings.
Are you highly organised, detail-oriented and passionate about supporting school governance? Join our dedicated team as a Clerk to School Governing Boards. This is a key role providing professional clerking services to governing boards across our schools, ensuring effective governance and compliance with statutory requirements.
About the Role
- Prepare agendas and distribute papers in advance of meetings.
- Attend governing board meetings (including evenings and early mornings) and produce accurate minutes.
- Advise on governance legislation, procedural matters and conflicts of interest.
- Maintain membership records and support the appointment/election process.
- Ensure statutory policies and documentation are up to date and accessible.
- Provide guidance and support to governors, including new members.
- Promote a culture of challenge and continuous improvement within boards.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience in record keeping, data management and minute-taking.
- Willingness to attend training, including the NGA Clerks Programme.
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to attend meetings outside standard working hours.
- Ability to travel to school sites as required.
- Reliable IT access for remote working (equipment provided).
