We are working with a large, well-established UK organisation in the Higher Education sector to recruit a Senior Developer / Analyst to play a key role in the development, enhancement and operational support of their core Virtual Learning Environment.
This is a hands-on technical role focused primarily on Moodle, with responsibility for integrations, performance, stability and continuous improvement of the platform and associated digital learning systems.
The Role
- Lead the development, configuration and optimisation of a large-scale Moodle VLE
- Develop plugins, integrations and enhancements to improve user experience and functionality
- Support and troubleshoot complex issues, implementing clean, scalable fixes
- Design and maintain REST-based integrations with internal and third-party systems
- Contribute to CI/CD, version control and modern development best practices
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver robust, secure solutions
- Provide technical guidance within projects and contribute to service improvement initiatives
This role combines project delivery, system enhancement and 3rd-line support within a collaborative but highly autonomous environment.
Key Experience (not all essential)
- Strong commercial experience developing and supporting Moodle
- Moodle plugin development and platform customisation
- Solid PHP development skills (front-end skills such as JavaScript/CSS beneficial)
- Experience with REST APIs and system integrations
- Linux environments and version control best practice
- Experience working in structured delivery environments (Agile, CI/CD etc.)
- Experience within Higher Education or large, complex organisations would be advantageous but is not essential.
