Job Description
We’re working with a leading engineering services organisation to recruit a highly capable BMS and Controls Engineering Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of the Building Management System (BMS) and associated controls across a technically advanced site ensuring all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and legislative standards.
The Role
As BMS and Controls Engineering Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing and administering the site’s control systems. You’ll work closely with the engineering management team to mobilise and optimise the BMS function, developing and maintaining a robust maintenance programme to ensure high performance and reliability across all systems.
You’ll continuously monitor the BMS for running and alarm conditions, taking responsibility for maintaining environmental controls within the building and specialist areas, and ensuring they meet exacting specifications and tolerances. As the primary technical point of contact, you’ll liaise with both the client and site technical staff to ensure all planned and reactive works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required standards.
This role will also involve implementing strict change control processes across documentation, software, and hardware, and establishing effective communication channels to keep both internal teams and clients informed of updates. You’ll review and enhance alarm management protocols, provide technical leadership during emergency procedures, and support strategic decision-making on all operational, regulatory, and statutory matters.
In addition, you’ll oversee the inspection, testing, and maintenance of plant and equipment, and when required, take a hands-on approach to fault-finding, diagnostics, and system optimisation. You’ll perform technical and quality audits to ensure full compliance across all assets and operations, identifying and agreeing on system enhancements to improve resilience and performance across the site.
About You
You’ll be a proven engineering manager with a strong background in BMS and control systems, ideally gained within a building services, critical environment, or large-scale industrial setting. You’ll have a deep understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, environmental control, and compliance standards.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as you’ll be the go-to technical expert for both client and internal engineering teams. You’ll also be highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident managing both strategic planning and day-to-day operational delivery.
What’s on Offer
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Opportunity to lead the BMS and controls strategy across a major technical facility
- Long-term career growth with a respected engineering organisation
- Supportive, forward-thinking environment focused on excellence and innovation
