We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Frontend focused) who genuinely enjoys building clean, reliable, user‑friendly software — and who brings strong frontend PHP experience to the table.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll be building out new customer portals, account/device management system UIs etc. The platform is entirely PHP, but touches into backends via APIs from other services that are built by another team.
  • Supporting scripts, deployments etc using Python.
  • You’ll also be the person others come to for advice.

What you’ll need:

  • Strong, hands‑on frontend PHP experience (this really is the non‑negotiable bit).
  • Experience with Python and Postgres DB.
  • The ability to explain technical things without sending people to sleep.
  • A habit of writing code that works and makes sense.
  • Enough professional maturity to know when your idea is great — and when it isn’t.

The first interview will be via video, and the second interview will be undertaken in person, please ensure you’re comfortable with this prior to applying. Applicants must also be able to work in the UK without restriction, unfortunately sponsorship cannot be provided.

If this sounds like the kind of role you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you.

How to prepare for a job interview at Connected Consulting Limited

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Connected Consulting Limited uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
