Are you an experienced Social Worker looking to make a real difference in mental health services? Swindon Borough Council are seeking experienced Social Workers to join their ambitious Mental Health Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking service dedicated to supporting people with mental illness to live independently and achieve meaningful outcomes.

About the Role

You'll be part of a supportive and driven team, working both on-site (minimum 2 days per week) and in the community. The role involves regular visits within Swindon, as well as occasional travel to surrounding areas such as Salisbury, Bath, Bristol and Devizes, so flexibility and the ability to commute are essential.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Complete complex, person-centred assessments (Care Act, S117, Mental Capacity)
  • Develop support plans to promote independence and wellbeing
  • Provide support to carers in complex situations
  • Maintain accurate, timely records
  • Assess needs against eligibility criteria
  • Manage risk and apply advanced assessment skills
  • Work in line with key legislation (Care Act, MCA, CHC guidance)
  • Lead and chair Best Interest meetings
  • Support and advise colleagues
  • Identify and act on safeguarding concerns
  • Undertake Section 42 enquiries
  • Work collaboratively in multi-agency settings

What We're Looking For

  • A qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Highly experienced in Care Act and Mental Capacity assessments
  • Knowledgeable in strengths-based practice and relevant legislation
  • Organised, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Passionate about supporting people with mental health needs to live fulfilling lives.
  • Experience of mental health social work is desirable. However, we will consider people who have sound practical skills and have a willingness to learn more about mental health work.
