Experienced Social Worker – Assessment and Child Protection
Swindon (Hybrid Working) £42.00 per hour (Umbrella) Locum Contract
Are you a passionate and experienced Social Worker ready to make a real impact in child protection? Swindon Borough Council is looking for dedicated professionals to join their forward-thinking Assessment and Child Protection team. Safeguarding and the welfare of children is core to providing a service dedicated to ensuring all children grow up safe from harm.

Key responsibilities include:
- Work directly with children, young people and families, involving all key family members and prioritising children and young people’s safety
- Carry out meaningful and in-depth ongoing assessments of social need and risk/harm to children with particular focus on parental capacity and parent’s ability to change
- Recognise harm and risk indicators of different forms of harm for children
- Ensure SMART child centred plans are in place so all partners including parents and children can measure and sustain progress in child protection process and planning
- Provide statutory support to more complex social work cases assessed as high need, high harm, potential or likelihood to access court processes or statutory care
- Uphold standards of practice for social workers as defined by Social Work England (SWE) and in accordance with the BASW Professional Capabilities Framework for Experienced Social Workers
We’re keen to hear from Social Workers who are:
- Qualified (Degree/DipSW/CQSW) and registered with Social Work England
- Have a proven track record of strengths-based social work with adults and/or children including safeguarding
- Possess post graduate qualifications in a relevant area
- Trained Practice Educator or willingness to do training and undertake placement supervision of student social workers
