We are seeking a compassionate and committed Social Worker to join our North East Family Support Team (FST) on a maternity cover basis. This role is ideal for professionals dedicated to making a positive impact on families' lives by providing support, guidance, and advocacy in complex situations. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments to understand family dynamics and individual needs.
  • Develop and implement tailored support plans to promote child safety and family well-being.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and legal services, ensuring coordinated care.
  • Provide timely intervention and crisis management when required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records in line with organisational policies and legal requirements.
  • Advocate for vulnerable individuals, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
  • Participate in supervision and ongoing professional development.
  • Promote a culture of inclusivity, respect, and anti-discrimination in all interactions.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in Social Work (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working within child and family social work settings.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with cultural competence and sensitivity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a professional team.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice.

Day-to-Day

  • Engage directly with families to assess needs and provide support.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and contribute to case planning.
  • Respond to referrals and monitor progress against support plans.
  • Work flexibly to meet the demands of the role, including occasional travel within the North East region.
  • Use digital case management systems to record and update case information accurately.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive workplace by respecting and valuing diverse perspectives.
