To work in partnership with another Team Lead specialising in deafness in managing the SLT service for deaf children in Surrey. To manage the preschool and mainstream aspects of this service for deaf children: this will include providing supervision for other SLTs in the specialist deafness team and taking clinical initiatives.

To provide support for the specialist SLT Team who work with deaf children within Specialist Resource Bases for deaf students attached to mainstream Primary and Secondary Schools. To work closely with Advisory Teachers of the Deaf and hold a caseload of preschool deaf children and their families in the community in a defined area of Surrey.

To provide expert second opinions and to support Mainstream Link SLTs with deaf children on their caseload. To liaise with other professionals in the field of deafness across Surrey and in tertiary settings to ensure that clinical practice is of high quality, reflecting the relevant evidence base and that the wider team is informed of and trained in current research principles.

To provide and coordinate line management and clinical supervision for SLTs in the wider team in NE Surrey, monitoring performance through appraisal and audit. The post holder will belong to and provide leadership within the NE SLT team, being managed by the NE Quadrant Lead.

The post holder will be one of two Team Leads in the Surrey wide team of SLTs who specialise in deafness and will oversee the service for preschool and mainstream deaf children across the county. The post holder will support their own preschool caseload of deaf children within the NE and NW Surrey community. The post holder will be required to travel.

The post holder will provide and receive continuing professional development designed to support both deaf specialist and NE team members and will contribute to service objectives.
