Connect2Socialwork is recruiting an experienced Practice Manager on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their Children, Families & Education directorate. This is a key leadership role within the Youth Partnership Service, focused on delivering high-quality, safe and effective services that achieve positive outcomes for children, young people, families and victims, while protecting the public from serious harm.

About the Role

As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management and service delivery of the Youth Partnership Service. You will provide professional supervision, oversight and support to staff, ensuring practice is compliant with legislation, local procedures, national standards and best practice. You will play a vital role in driving quality, managing risk and supporting continuous improvement within a multi-agency service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the Youth Partnership Service to achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people, families and victims
  • Provide oversight and management of high-risk cases, with a specific focus on risk of serious harm and vulnerability
  • Offer caseload management, practice guidance and professional supervision across the service in line with recognised standards
  • Lead on specific areas of quality practice, contributing to service development and improvement
  • Support the development and delivery of strategic objectives in collaboration with the Deputy Head of Service
  • Recruit, supervise, appraise, motivate and develop staff from a range of partner agencies, accounting for differing employment policies and statutory requirements
  • Ensure effective partnership working across statutory, voluntary, community and government organisations

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience working with children and young people in a statutory setting, including oversight of operational performance
  • Significant experience of complex decision-making within youth or children's services, with strong analytical skills
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, demonstrating sound judgement, emotional resilience and professionalism
  • A strong track record of leading or contributing to multi-agency teams within children's social care or youth justice services
  • Demonstrable experience of effective partnership working across a wide range of agencies

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS clearance (required due to the nature of the role)
  • willingness to disclose convictions, cautions or bind-overs in line with DBS and statutory requirements
