Halton Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Team Leader to lead our Children in Care 16+ Team, helping young people move confidently and safely into independence.
About the Role
As Team Leader, you\’ll oversee a team of social workers and support staff who are committed to delivering high-quality services to young people aged 16 and over who are in our care or preparing to leave care. You\’ll provide day-to-day management, guidance, and support to ensure effective safeguarding, planning, and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to the 16+ team, ensuring high standards of social work practice.
- Oversee caseloads and support social workers in complex decision-making.
- Monitor performance and compliance with statutory responsibilities and service standards.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to support young people transitioning into adulthood.
- Champion the voice of young people and ensure their views are central to care planning.
Requirements
- Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- Proven experience within children’s services, ideally with care‑experienced or older young people.
- Strong leadership, supervision, and team development skills.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice in leaving care and transition planning.
- 3 years permanent experience.
