Hackney Council is looking for an experienced Children’s Team Manager to join their Family Help Service on a locum basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dedicated team delivering high-quality, impactful interventions for children and families.
The Role
As Team Manager, you will lead a social work team to deliver outstanding services that safeguard and promote the welfare of children. You will ensure timely, effective responses to need, working in line with statutory guidance while driving excellent outcomes for children and families. You will take full responsibility for managing and supporting a team of social workers and practitioners, ensuring practice is compliant, analytical and focused on achieving meaningful change.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of social workers, providing supervision, guidance and performance oversight
- Oversee high-quality assessments, ensuring they are thorough, compliant and outcome-focused
- Ensure effective planning and delivery of interventions, including child protection and CIN plans
- Manage risk and ensure children requiring protection or care receive timely and appropriate plans
- Drive strong partnership working with internal teams and external agencies
- Promote best practice, including systemic, trauma-informed and anti-racist approaches
- Oversee case quality, reporting, auditing and service delivery standards
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- 3 Years Perm experience within an English LA
- Significant experience in children's social work, including complex case management
- Proven team management experience within a statutory children’s setting
- Strong knowledge of legislation, child protection procedures and statutory frameworks
- Ability to lead, motivate and drive high performance within a team
