Senior Social Worker – Child Protection Team

Hackney is looking for an experienced Senior Children\’s Social Worker to join their Child Protection Team, where high-quality, relationship-based practice is at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role
As a Senior Social Worker within Child Protection, you will hold a complex caseload and play a key role in safeguarding children at risk of significant harm. You will undertake high-quality assessments, lead Child Protection planning, complete court work, and deliver purposeful interventions that improve outcomes for children and families.
You will work closely with families, partner agencies and internal colleagues, contributing to a robust, reflective and supportive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory child and family assessments, analysing risk and protective factors
Lead and manage Child Protection Plans in line with statutory guidance and London Child Protection Procedures
Carry out direct work with children and families, ensuring children\’s voices are heard and recorded
Prepare high-quality written reports for child protection conferences and court
Manage your caseload effectively, meeting statutory timescales and performance requirements
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard children and promote their welfare
Maintain accurate, timely case recording in line with council expectations
Demonstrate strong professional judgement, accountability and reflective practice
About You
A qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
3 Years Perm experience within an English Local Authority
An experienced children\’s social worker with strong child protection experience
Confident managing risk and complexity in high-pressure environments
Skilled in systemic and social learning theory approaches
Committed to anti-racist practice, equality and challenging discrimination
Resilient, reflective and motivated to deliver high-quality social work
