We are seeking experienced PCV SEND Drivers to provide safe, reliable, and supportive transport for children and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the London Borough of Hackney.

Location: London Borough of Hackney

Service Area: Children & Families / Adult Social Care - SEND Transport

Contract Type: Temporary / Agency

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport SEND passengers to and from schools, colleges, and care settings
  • Operate PCV vehicles in line with DVSA regulations and council policies
  • Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report defects promptly
  • Support passengers with additional needs in a calm, professional manner
  • Work effectively alongside SEND Passenger Assistants (where assigned)
  • Maintain accurate records, including journey logs and incident reports
  • Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and equality standards at all times

Essential Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence with Category D (PCV) entitlement
  • Valid CPC qualification
  • Valid digital tachograph card
  • Enhanced DBS (Child and/or Adult Workforce) - registered on the Update Service preferred
  • Previous experience driving PCV vehicles, ideally within SEND or care transport
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Good communication and customer‑focused approach
  • Ability to work split shifts (typically morning and afternoon routes)
