Are you an experienced adult social care professional with a passion for safeguarding, strengths-based practice, and high-quality service delivery? Hackney Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join our Adult Services division and help drive excellent outcomes for adults with complex needs across the borough.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality supervision, performance management, and professional guidance to staff.
- Lead on complex assessments, safeguarding enquiries, and risk management in line with the Care Act and MSP principles.
- Support the implementation of self-directed support, personalisation, and strengths-based practice.
- Manage and analyse casework information, ensuring high standards of recording and compliance.
- Work in partnership with health colleagues, voluntary sector partners, and internal teams to deliver integrated, person-centred services.
- Chair case conferences, safeguarding meetings, and multi-disciplinary forums where required.
- Contribute to quality assurance frameworks, service development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote equality, inclusion, and best practice across the service.
About You
Technical Knowledge & Experience:
- Post-qualifying experience working with adults with long-term conditions, complex needs, or safeguarding concerns.
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, and London Multi-Agency Safeguarding Policy.
- Ability to support and guide staff through complex assessments and risk-based decision making.
- Experience supervising staff and managing performance.
- Confidence in chairing meetings, writing reports, and contributing to strategic work.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication, IT, organisational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary, Think-Family-oriented team.
- Strong legal literacy and ability to represent the service professionally.
- Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and Hackney's equality values.
- Ability to work flexibly and respond to emerging priorities.
Qualifications:
- Social Work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, Degree).
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Enhanced DBS.
