Occupational Therapy Assistant ÂŁ30.81 per hour | London Borough of Hackney
Hackney Council is strengthening its Occupational Therapy and Reablement services to tackle a significant backlog and improve access to timely, personâcentred support. We are expanding our frontline workforce to increase capacity, reduce delays, and help residents receive the essential equipment, adaptations and support they need.
We are seeking a committed Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our Adult Social Care service and play a key role in delivering highâquality, strengthsâbased interventions.
About the RoleAs an OTA, you will work under the supervision of qualified Occupational Therapists to:
- Carry out strengthsâbased OT assessments
- Complete reviews for residents receiving OT equipment or domiciliary care
- Support the assessment and provision of specialist equipment and environmental adaptations
- Deliver functional retraining, advice and interventions that promote safety and independence
- Identify risks and contribute to safeguarding processes
- Accurately record case notes and maintain highâquality documentation
- Work collaboratively with service users, carers and a wide range of professionals
You will also support Hackney's growing Reablement Service, including:
- Reablement at Home â supporting residents discharged home with reablement potential
- Reablement Assessment Flats â providing shortâterm assessment accommodation at Rose Court and Leander Court
This role is central to Hackney's ambition to move toward a Reablement First approach, offering shortâterm, independenceâfocused support to more residents.
What Weâre Looking For- Experience completing OT or functional assessments
- Strong communication and partnershipâworking skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently
- Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, assistive technology and strengthâbased practice
- Understanding of equipment, adaptations and the needs of adults with physical or sensory disabilities
- Trusted Assessor qualification (or willingness to obtain)
